Larry R. Richardson

Born in rural western Kentucky, Larry’s love of the outdoors led to a career which included an advanced degree in biology at Austin Peay State University, work in parks and wildlife management, wildlife art publishing, U.S. Senate and management positions with Ducks Unlimited, one of the country’s leading non-profit wildlife conservation organizations.

While at Ducks Unlimited, Larry was initially involved in grass roots fundraising in a two-state region.  He then spent several years in the headquarters office in Memphis heading up the department that provides support services for fundraising.  During his tenure at DU, Larry was involved with major gifts as well as two capital campaigns, the most recent with a $2 billion goal.

After retirement from DU, Larry formed a consulting business and contracted with Wild Wings, a premier art publisher in Minnesota, to be their exclusive national sales representative with all the major non-profit wildlife organizations in North America.  He has also consulted with conservation organizations like the National Wildlife Federation to develop and improve fundraising.

Other experience includes state naturalist, public relations for Tennessee’s wildlife agency, service with the U.S. Senate as a regional field director, managing partner of a medical recruiting firm and a college professor/administrator while working on his Master’s Degree (APSU).  Larry has been elected national president of APSU’s alumni association on two separate terms and has served as a board member of the university’s foundation.  He has also developed an interest in landscape painting and has written four books.
Larry’s extensive experience in not-for-profit, private enterprise and public service offers a wealth of knowledge enhanced by his talent for developing relationships with a wide range of people.
